Tala, Satkhira — February 22, 2024: Under the Integrated Agriculture Unit of Unnayan Prochesta and with financial support from PKSF, a hands-on "Field Day" was successfully organized in Agailjhara village, Tala Upazila, focusing on the cultivation of the high-yielding BARI Begun-12 brinjal variety.
The event was chaired by Sheikh Yeakub Ali, Director of Unnayan Prochesta. Notable special guests included Hazira Khatun, Upazila Agriculture Officer, Tala; Md. Rezaul Karim, Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officer, Tala; and Md. Asadul Islam, Member of Tala Sadar Union Parishad. Successful brinjal farmer Md. Around 70 enthusiastic local farmers attended the field demonstration. They received practical, hands-on orientation on modern cultivation techniques, seed sourcing, sapling transplantation, soil management, and eco-friendly pest control methods. The farmers were also taken on a guided tour of the demonstration field where BARI Begun-12 was cultivated.
A key attraction of the field demonstration was the impressive fruit weight of BARI Begun-12, averaging around 800 grams per eggplant.
The entire session was conducted and facilitated by Md. Nayan Hossain, Agriculture Officer of Unnayan Prochesta's Integrated Agriculture Unit, who helped farmers understand the economic potential and cultivation steps of this high-yielding variety.
