Our Story
Background
Unnayan Prochesta (UP) signifies a continuous effort toward development, aiming to foster a sustainable and harmonious society. Founded in 1996 as a voluntary organization, it focuses on the socio-economic upliftment of marginalized communities.
Driven by the vision of alleviating poverty and securing basic human rights, Mr. Sk. Yakub Ali, along with a group of committed local youths, laid the foundation of this institution. Initially, volunteers utilized a nursery field provided by Mr. Yakub Ali for income generation, which eventually became a local model for farmers to visit and learn from.
UP goes beyond traditional development, emphasizing moral support to empower individuals to transform their lives. Early partnerships, such as support from CVM (Italy) through Peer Lupy in 1996, were crucial for achieving NGOAB registration. In 1997, Banchte Shekha assisted in advancing human rights initiatives, particularly engaging women in the village Salish process.
Since 1998, PKSF has supported our microcredit interventions. Gradually, UP has received funding from MISEREOR, CARE-Bangladesh, and ADB through DOF for the implementation of various development projects.
